Shopgirl in the Spring April 12, 2010

Undoubtedly one of my favorite times of year as I open the front and back doors to Firefly and let the sun shine in! The breeze dances through the shop, customers stroll in, a lightness to the step, and the winter seems replaced with a newness.

Like the budding blooms and trees, my shop is full of new colors, delicate baubles, soft wonders that just make you want to stop and look. It’s not unlike a garden just in bloom, here in Firefly. I’m drawn to colors and inventory that brings in the season of green and sunny. I tend to fill the shop with items you might want on your back patio or something to take to some dear friends barbecue.

Like the fun new serving pieces from French Bull, in bright colors and patterns. Salad tongs with flowers? Sure! Polka dots on a spatula? Yep. How ’bout a fun new beach tote or something for those days at the pool. I loved unpacking the fun tote bags from Blue Q made from recycled materials with funky colors and images and thinking of someone filling it with sunscreen, towels and that smell of summer…..you know what I mean. Or that long awaited trip to the beach and that surely some of these totes will come home with souvenirs of sand. Ahhhhh, yes. Warmth. Sun. Color.
